About Berlinski

What is Berlinski?

My name is Alison Willis and I created the Berlinski label in 2008. Berlinski grew through my passion for sewing, design and beautiful vintage fabrics and linens. I have collected fabrics for many years and I really enjoy making something new out of something old. I base my pieces on simple designs using good quality structural fabrics which allows the unique fabric I have collected to be the feature. The fabrics I love using most are vintage Japanese kimono pieces, antique and vintage tablecloths, laces and embroideries. When using vintage fabrics I am always conscious of not cutting up pieces that are in perfect condition. I love finding perfect areas in otherwise damaged vintage fabrics and giving them a new life!

I love the thought that the detail and beauty of vintage textiles can be cherished and appreciated again. I hand-pick all the fabrics and hand-sew each piece, which makes every Berlinski item a genuine one off…something that makes you stand out in a crowd. Berlinski accessories are created to be beautiful, functional works of art!

Whilst vintage fabrics are delicate, Berlinski products are made to last. All the support fabrics I use are top quality, the bags are strong and very well made to ensure a long life.

I always get asked “so why Berlinski”?

My mother has been such an inspiration to me over the years. She has taught me so much of what I know about textiles and sewing. Berlinski is her Polish maiden name and I use it with love and pride!
